The signage is good and we soon find our way into the reserve where the Pinnacles are... it only costs $5 (about £3.20) entry or both of us and the bike so its a real bargain. We park the bike up and head off to the information centre, its very good with lots of info. It missing a coffee shop though.... apparently they can only sale canned drinks as its too expensive to get water bought out to here, so they have decided not to have a cafe..
We do the walks and take lots of piccies and then decide to do the new road that circles 4km of the Pinnacles. John checks out the road quality and decides its good enough for Ruby... ( shame that Ruby did not agree) we are one quarter round , nobody else in sight and flippin ell..... down goes Ruby. Silence ensues and John and I growl a few noises at each other.......I pick myself up and between the two of we manage to get Ruby upright again, blimey she weighs a ton (she actually does weigh a ton and thats when she's empty !!!!) I offer to walk on to the exit , some 3km away. However, its a really hot day and we are both in vests and shorts... John is having none of it. "get on the bike Lin" and he's not messin, but I don't want to get on, I dont like Ruby on soft ground.. and she dosent like it either. Anyway I get on and John puts his foot down and we do the rest of the Pinnacles road without stopping and at about 15-20 km per hour (theres a 8km per hour limit), but Ruby wont do 8km. To say we are relieved to finish is an understatement. But its still been a nice day and the Pinnacles are worth a visit. They are a natural phenomeanum , and actually quite stunning, but once you have seen them, you have seen them.
The Pinnacles, Cervantes..
Me and a Pinnacle
More Pinnacles...
The two of us....
The road that Ruby disliked soooooo much ..
Back on the road after Ruby laid down..
The exit and we made it.... phew...
Pinnacles done and we decide to drive back and pop into the local Lobster shack..No comments, no piccies, sometimes things are not what you think... yes it was a Lobster factory, and yes they made loads of money, but I expected a bit of luxury and luxury was not what we got. What John got was half a cray fish, with a handful of chips in a polysterene box... I got nothing. The smell of Lobster was overwhelming... never mind it all adds to the experience.
We made our way back to camp and settle in for the night. Its pot noodles for supper and then off to bed, ready for an early start and another round of tent down and packing up...ready to make our way to Banjup...
So nite all. Thats all for today.
