Tuesday 17th April..... Life goes on..... Chips and seagulls....

Up with the larks as usual, no drama, just the sea crashing, the dogs swimming and surfing, us walking and then home for brekkie. Pancakes this morning yum yum.

We've had to learn a new language out here, yes they speak english but they do have some funnies.. and apparently our accent stands out like a sore thumb/Pom!!!!!  So here is a few for you to continue your Ozzie education with..

Dunna- Duvet
Doco- Documentary on TV
Rego- Your car registration doc
Roo- Kangaroo
Joey- Baby Kangaroo
How ya goin???? (and  No they don't mean are you going by bus!!!! lol)- They mean how are you today? You just ansa 'Good thanks'

And should you want a portion of chips.... well, there are, boxes, scoops, packets, bags, then there is small medium, large, single or double....... then there is with salt and chicken salt,???? or without, which they all seem to like a lot and then there is the gravy they pour all over them... Very OZ

AND, you have to take your passport and or driving licence to the post office with you, if you want to post anything out of the country.!!!!

We took two parcels to the Post office today and bought two parcels home... NOT impressed. They were surprised we did not carry ID and could not understand why we did not always have our passport with us....so they would not accept the parcels. Would't mind but they were only two baby cuddles I had made for Steven and Jo's new baby when it comes (its a boy by the way!!!! how times change, we would not have wanted to know, but everyone seems to want to know what the baby is as soon as they can. Me ? I like the surprise!!! No comments please) and Margaret's new grand daughter 'Teigan'.  SO we will have to go back into town later in the week when and if the weather has improved.

AND....flippin eck, we went shopping today around Mandurah Foreshore (very pretty) for a few bits.
And a  family size box of Coco Pops was $10.70 and thats on special offer!!!! which to you and me is about £7.50.  Now I know its all relative and they earn more than we do and their minimum wage is about £250 PER WEEK, but bloody hell.....£7.50 for a box of cereals. I think I would sooner mow the lawn and eat it (well nearly anyway!!!). So we bought Cheerios, on special offer at half the price. .... Now you may think I am sad to be mentioning all this, but I cannot get my head round the cost of living out here. John has stopped converting cuz he says its too frightening, but I don't seem to be able to.  At this rate I am not sure how long my blood pressure will stay down!.and we will have pennies to spend.....lol...   Anyway I digress sorry...

The weather today has been very changeable one minute rain, the next sun, then a breeze, but throughout, so far, it has stayed warm and we are still in shorts and teeshirts. Average heat being about 75...

Roast lamb chops and roast tatties for tea, I am cooking (yes me!) it smells and looks great (so far!).
So I am off to the kitchen to keep and eye on it as I now have to cook with an 'induction hob' ( it knows when a pan is on it??? so gets hot and goes cold when you take it off... well sort of.. I think thats the idea. Added to all of this we have to deal with a FAN oven, so fingers crossed.

Did I speak too soon????, just turned round, the sea is blowing a gale, its pouring with rain and the temp has dropped, so off to get a cardi...... Here comes the piccies..

'John and his Gang' (Well John named him (The fat one in the middle), he was a bit of a bully and kept nicking all the chips off the others...)

Full flight and 'John, the Seagull' has just taken a chip from Johns hand..

The gang (without John, yes he is in the air near my Johns hand...)

Told you it was rough, boohoo wheres the sun gone ???? They did keep telling us it was winter time here and we just kept smiling and saying 'yes........' OK we believe you!!!

Love to you all, take care, be good and be safe xxxx  Lots of love Linda and John xx
