Wednesday 21st March- We leave Esperance and move to Emu Bay/Beach- Albany

We leave Esperance, lovely day but a tad overcast and at times wet. We have had a lovely stay here. The team on site and the site itself was well looked after, the views were grand and the town small and community based.

We have decided to miss out Bremer Bay (where we were going to stay) and drive straight to Albany.. We travel, through towns like Salmon Gums, Munglinup, Nurragi, Hopetoun(yes I have spelt it correctly), Fitzgerald, Jerramungup, Boxwood hill, Wellstead, Manypeaks and Nararup....etc... we can stay two nights instead of one by doing the extra miles today.... This means John can have a well earned rest from the driving and we can see a bit more of Albany and wander round the shops yeaaaaaaaaaaaa........

We stop for lunch and have cheese sarnies(me anyway) and John has cooked cold chicken and bread. Un-beknown to me, I must have fallen asleep, especially when there was apparently a torrential downpour and a bird hit the bike!!! All I found was the feathers on the wing mirror 'oh thats from the parrot that hit the bike'' says John and 'how wet did you get, was't the rain bad????" he asks  (well ignorance is bliss as they say!!!!) I just smile and nod.....

Esperance to Albany is about 400km, so a good 320 miles for John to drive.

We arrive at Emu Bay Camping and Caravan park just before 5pm, so its a quick book in, tent out, tent up and tea on. It seems to get dark all of a sudden here and as John and I set out to walk along the beach, our neighbours, stop to say hi (they have two lovely miniature maltese thingys (dogs) Mollie and Russell, it seems that boy dogs here are either called Rusty or Russell...

The neighbours want to know where we are we are from, where we have been, going to etc etc. It works out they had left the same camp site as us in Esperance a day before. They run/ own a very upper class B and B in a converted church in New South wales (NSW), they invite us to pop in if we are going by which
is unlikely as NSW was weeks and weeks ago, so unlikely we will go back, but the offer is lovely as were they. We chat for a while and suddenly realise its dark and we can barely see the tent or each other. So we say our goodnights and good byes, as they are moving on early tomorrow and back in the tent we go, and back to their very nice caravan they go.... The beach walk will have to wait for tomorrow, never mind.

All set for the night, John has a read on his Kindle... and I go on line and try catch up with the blog, the emails and the girls etc.  I eventually get Billee, who has been to school and is home early as classes have been cut short??. All is well at home and Billee is looking forward to going to New York in just over a weeks time.

Goodbyes and good nites all said, and its off to bed for us and apparently a BLT for Billee-Jean lol. This 8 hours ahead lark makes things bloody awkward for when we want to chat to the UK, but hey ho, we will just have to sit up till midnight or after as its only 4/5pm for the UK peeps!!! never mind.

Well as always love to all, and here comes the piccies...

On the road and we are heading for Albany..

More roads and views..

and more...

We arrive in Albany and swing round into Emu bay and beach where we are staying. They won the cleanest beach award in 2011 and also the best community award... its a quaint, calm, tidy and quiet place, but fair to say the average age of those actually living here in proberly 60 plus, so in the bigger scale of things, John and are just kids !!!!! hahahahaha ( and I heard those comments, be kind please !).

The view as we ride into camp..

The camp kitchen...

Tent off, tent out, .......... and yes I am helping, you just can't see me. I am at the other end of the tent sticking a pole in its hole !!!!!!

 Tent up.....

and 'we' are in lol........ heres me sat in my very posh armchair NOT!!!!!!

Now we named this little chap 'Dave', (well John did.......all will be revealed later)
