Well our time at Waikiki is nearly over, its been a strange week as we start to prepare to go back to living in the tent again and also going back on the road. We visit the local areas and walk the dogs for the last few times.. they are so lovely and a pleasure to look after.. We blitz the house, get all our washing and bedding up together and John does his best to load everything in to the pod (hahaha stuff his luck!!!).
Then out of the kitchen window I can see that Dozer (Dozie) has ate the bloody dog bed, so now they are on the bare kennel floor and there is blue fluff all round the patio area. So off John and I go to all the local OP shops ( second hand/charity shops to you guys!) to see if we can find a decent blanket for them. After visiting about 5, we pop into the Salavtion Army shop in Old Rockingham and there is a half a quilt, it looks brand new, is black and peach in colour and only $5. It will make the perfect bed for the dogs plus a spare. We get home and onto the sewing machine I go, nipping and tucking the quilts so that the dogs are comfy. It turns out very well, so all is calm in their kennel again. ... ,( John sweeps the blue fluff up)we also picked up a couple of cheap DVD's and settle in for the night to watch the original swedish 'Girl with the dragon tattoo' wow, it was harsh and brutal in places but an excellent film, even the sub tittles did not take away the story line..So chocolate in one hand and ice creams in the other we have another nite indoors at the cinema lol.... (got to get us one of those when we finally stop this travelling lark...)
It was quite funny really because in the week (well Wednesday actually) I was in the local IGA supermarket and there was this lady looking at all the sauces and stuff. I , ....convinced it was Edith go up to her and say "Edith, Hello... you can't decide what we are having????" Edith is looking at me most strangely and moving her head from side to side,"don't worry, I continue I am sure it will be lovely whatever you cook..." "Edith... I ask are you ok?" Edith is looking at me all strange and with this sort of glazed look "I am not Edith!" says the lady. Well if I have ever felt an idiot, I certainly did then. I apologised and quickly finished my shopping and left the store..... What can I say??, I think I will keep that one quiet... So there is no mention to anyone only John (who giggles and said it must be my age!) I make him promise not to let on...
We go to Edith's for dinner on Thursday nite and Kevin and Margaret who run the local B and B join us. Edith cooks us all a lovely sausage and pork casserole with cabbage and onion mash..(its got a really flash name, but I can't remember). It was lovely and even though I don't like pork and we really don't like Ozzie sausages... we all eat two good platefuls it was delish! with a couple of glasses of good wine and lots of stories and chat.....Goodnites eventually said we head off next door and back to our temporary abode.
We spend the weekend sorting, packing and getting the house ready for the owners return and our departure. We cook a sunday roast on Saturday as this is likely our last roast for some weeks...yum, yum.
On the Sunday morning just as we are about to leave, I get an email, theres some new adverts gone on line and one of them will suit us just right and almost fill the gap for somewhere to stay, as we have two weeks before the next sit... I send back an email all inspired and we wait... nothing. So we decide to drive back down to Mandurah (we stayed there before) and wait and see if tomorrow brings a reply. Failing that we will go travelling for a while, we are not fussed either way, but this one sounds good and the house has its own boat jetty and is on the waters edge... I say no more !!!.
John checks the chooks for the last time and two eggs have been laid.. bless them, so he pops them in our box, we now have 6 to take with us. I can't tell you what a difference there is in eating real fresh eggs from eggs that are shop bought eggs.
Free range, FRESH eggs, are so lovely, everyone should try them.. yum yum... Anyway I digress...loved them chooks, they were so funny and very clever...
Its now Sunday midday, still no email reply..... We load up, walk the dogs for one last time ahhhhhhh and say a sad farewell to Dozie and Tori :(, we pull the door too (the house looks lovely, fences all repaired, grasses all cut, the house sparkles, animals all fed..etc etc). We go next door to give Edith the key and to say goodbye. She invites us in... I decide to let on regarding my little situation earlier in the week, she howls with laughter....and then says "on my god, Linda it was not me..." she says in her Norweigan accent..."I know that now" I reply laughing....anyway goodbyes said, its out the door we go, we jump on the bike, (Edith is waving)... and we are off. Off to Mandurah and back to the site where we were when it all started some 10 weeks ago.... Wow how time flies.
So here come the piccies, just so you get the idea....
Dozie asleep ahhhhhh, yes and believe it or not Tori was actually inside the kennel asleep....but thats how they sleep anyway, all tucked up together..
All laid out and nothing to do.....(Dozie asleep AGAIN!!!_)
The burnt out telegraph pole that was attached to the house (lucky escape... trust it to happen on our watch lol....)All they did was cut the burnt top off and rest the wires...
Yes and here comes Tori.... lovely , lovely girl, she is a red heeler and would usually be herding cattle, if she was not living here...
The house, all tucked up and ready for its owners return..
The water collection system... now you would think washing, drinking and cooking with rain water (its free) would be good for you, but boy did my scalp react, it did not like it at all.....)
Tori and Dozer.....bless xxx they looked so sad as we left, they knew we would not be back, very sad, (we had spoilt them rotten....but still xxxx)
Goodbye, Dozie and Tori, goodbye chooks and fresh eggs, goodbye rabbits and fluff, good bye wormery, Goodbye rainwater, fires and power cuts... Goodbye Waikiki...Its been a pleasure..
