The site here is lovely, its home to hundreds of rabbits too, really pretty things, white and brown, and grey and beige. We think theres been a bit of mixing with a few escaped pets at some time.......but they hop about happily, until they hear the goldwing coming, then boy they flipping fly into the nearest bush. But who can blame them with John shouting "come on....pot roast' every time he sees one !!!!
Anyway, its been raining all nite, but we remained dry... yippeeee. The Rain is on, off, on, off, so when it has an off moment we decide to take our chances and ride up to Geraldton for the day. Its about 65km further up the coast. So off we go on the bike, we hit the Brand Highway through Irwin (the next village) and the cross winds are amazing. Good job I've got some weight, (and no I don't mean John!) on me, cuz I would have been airborne, no sooner we left site. .....Blimey even the trees round here grow at 90 degree angles and are actually known as the 'leaning trees'. Still we survive the winds and the road trains (large, very large lorries) and finally arrive in Geraldton town centre, nicely windswept and rosy cheeked.
Off to the shops we trot. But just as our neighbour on the last site told us, its not an inspiring place and seems a bit 'soulless'. Theres quite a few shops, but nothing takes our fancy and we wander about and then go for lunch. Nothing to impressive, so our views have not been changed. There is a large working port on the front and we sit and look out over the sea for lunch in a restaurant called The Dome. Usually food is good in this chain, but this one, well this was just mere average and nothing to rave about... Never mind lunch over and we go back to look at the 'other side' of town where a new shopping centre has gone up and its still no better. We are both glad we took the advice and did not stay here.
Its starts to blow and rain again, so we decide to make a move back to Dongara and our tent. The winds coming home were relentless and once again, poor little ol me nearly got blown off... and there were even more roadtrains on the way home, than on the way there, it must be the time of day.. anyway we arrive back on site and are very pleased to see our little home( the tent!) still standing. She's got a blue tarpaulin roof now, as we were not sure if she could stand much more wind and rain, bless her. So we repaired the tarpaulin and hopefully fingers crossed we and she will still be dry and warm when we wake up in the morning...
Homemade chilli for tea and very nice it was too. We treated ourselves to a new frying pan, dish cloth and 2 tea towels today. I get so excited now even with the little things, cuz usually John will say 'you buy new and you throw the same amount away because we have no space', but nothing was said today, so I suppose Sir agreed we needed them xxxx
We are just sat in the tent now, bellies full, fan heater on, all nice and cosy, days nearly over, Johns on his kindle and I am doin the blog and ... and I say this very quietly.....just in case him upstairs is listening... its not raining......
So here come the pic's, good nite all xxxx
A view across the site and yes we are the only ones in this part of the camp and thats just how we like it !!!.
