Lost; We take Kostyas for his usual morning run along the beach, and head back for breakfast after a couple of hours. We have managed to fool Kostyas to coming back onto his lead with biscuits, so no drama's so far... breakfast done, John decides to go fishing on the beach, so he packs his stuff and off he trots. This leaves me to sew and relax and watch a bit of TV, you know the stuff us girlies like but the men hate (Soaps and all that)... It comes to about 12ish and I decide to walk over to the beach and join John for half an hour. As I get up near to John he is saying' look behind you'' I turn round nothing... so I carry on walking towards him. ''Look behind you" he says in a louder voice"" I turn round can't see nothing. I think Oh... ok he is being funny and getting me at it as he does.... ''Turn round... LOOK'' he says, By now I am sitting in one of the blue chairs on the beach .. so again I turn round and who is sat behind me???? yes you've guessed... fliipin 'Kostyas'. Little B****er , he must of slipped out behind me. So we let him have a run while John fishes and then I realise to get him back I will need a lead. So off I trot back up to the house, to get some treats (to fool him) and his lead. Back on the beach, I do my nice voice '' come on, here you go, etc etc"" WELL..... he aint gavin none of it. The nearer I get to him the further he runs away... so after a couple of hours, John says "come on lets go back, he'll come home". So back to the house we go, get some lunch. By now an hour has gone by and still no Kostyas.... SO we agree to go back down the beach and look for him. John goes right and takes Florida beach and I go left and take Melros beach. Well , I walk and I walk and I walk. I ask everyone I see if they have seen him..., then at last a family out on the beach say they saw him about 2 bays down and he was still running.... SO off I trot feeling pleased that at least we have info.
FOUND and In trouble.....: Three hours later I am still walking and there is still no sign of the little 'G*t". So I call Natalie (his owner) and explain, just in case anyone calls her saying they have him. "" Go back home Linda, (she says,) he is chipped, he has his collar on, someone will find him and will call me,,, don't worry". Well thats easier said than done when its not your animal.... So off I walk back towards the house. What I had not noticed was the sun going down and the beach was by now almost in darkness. So I start to quicken my pace, have a go at jogging...... Cant do that thing, too painful and too much moves.... (Say no more!!!!). I get back up to almost the last bay before the house and I see a figure coming towards me.... Its John. I get up to him and he really kicks off, having a go, where have I been?? what took so long??? the dog has been back almost about an hour ????? well did I know that??? NO. Was I out on a shopping spree? NO, had I enjoyed a 4 hour walk in a panic ??? NO..... Anyway we get back to the house and Desma has arrived home. She was on the verge of calling the Police, she grabbed hold of me and gave me the biggest hug.... John was just about spitting..... so I left him and walked on...lol to the house. When we get upstairs, theres "Sir' sat looking at me getting a further telling off from John ( he thought someone had taken me from the beach... really?????? who the bloody hell would take me ???? lol)..... Still the outcome is, Kostyas did a runner, I went to look for him, and I got in more trouble than he did!!!!!!. Anyway, calm is restored, John has given me a big hug and is glad to have me back (the fool ... heheheheh) and everything goes back to norm.
The new Men in Black 3 film is on in town, so we decide to treat ourselves to the 3D showing. We ride into the Foreshore and pop into the local waterfront cholaterieie' (I know I can't spell it either) we munch on Chorious ( long stick like doughnuts) fresh chocolate sauce and fresh caramel sauce and two lovely coffee latte's... Film is very good and story line is a moral. Outcome is be careful of what you try and change, cuz sometimes despite your best wishes and intentions it can bit you in the 'Ar*e'.... Worth seeing and special effects are top rate ( and so it should be as Speilberg was involved), if you liked the other two films, you will enjoy this, but hopefully this is the end or else they will ruin an excellent trilogy.. ( Yes, Roxanne , Mumma knows a bit about movies too.....)
We are still sending home little 'Ditties', all hand made of course to the girls, which fingers crossed have travelled very well. xxxxx more to come girls xxx
A couple of days later, I look out the kitchen window and there goes Kostyas, taking himself off for a walk...... he is one flipping pain.... but also very loveable. SO out I go and call him back and eventually with promises of biscuits and cuddles he trots back in... John and I check the fencing... Well he has ripped open the side fence, dug a bloody great hole under the back fence and appears to be able to squash his fat little body through any gap that will gain him freedom. So Johns quest becomes to close down all the escape routes. Natalie calls me and I explain,,, "RIGHT" she says "he has had it.... let me think and I will call you back". A couple of hours later Natalie calls, "right problem sorted.... I will send down some money for John to buy electric fencing for the whole house ...... well I laughed and I laughed, when I had picked myself up off the floor..... I calm her down and explain that John has repaired and filled in all the holes, lets see how things go...woudl rather not have a fried dog on my concisence ( can't spell it sorry..)
OK she agrees. She also agrees to an extending lead as that is the only way we can now take him on the beach and make sure he comes home when we do. So holes filled, gates repaired, lead in hand , calm is again restored.
We sort out dates and times for Kouy to come out and stay with us.. brilliant. Arm and a leg job, but who cares ??... Its all done and only weeks away.... Rock on Kouy ....
We are now in our last week in Dawesville and I have to say the whole stay has been bloody great. I get a call from Suzanne and Ian to say goodbye and Thankyou....and they are inviting us to fly to Fiji and join them on their boat for a two week holiday with them..... I can't believe our luck.. then , then you realise you have to say NO, cuz where we go,, the bike has to go....... Anyway they leave the offer open and give us lots of praise and a smashing thank you email...cant believe how lovely some people are even when you hardly know them.
We now only have one week left in Dawesville, so we decide to ride down to the Dawesville Cut and do some fishing and try our luck at the crab pot. SO off we trot. WE had't been there long when several schools of dolphins appear and come right up to where we are. They are playing and chasing the fish and having a 'whale'(good pun!!!!) of a time. (See the piccies) How lovely is this?? how lucky have we been?.
So theres me with me crab pot tied to a long blue rope, but no joy, nothing happening. Johns fishing and catching the odd one here and there. Then the area over the crab pot goes black, I call John and there is the biggest manta ray fish I have ever seen laying on me crab pot.... 'Give me the line' says John and you take the fishing rod. So I hand over me blue rope line and next minute , he dropped the flipping rope in the water and me crab pot and rope are both lying on the bottom of the Indian Ocean!!!!!! SO what now? I ask. John takes his rod back and starts to fish to get my rope attached to his hook!!!, eventually eureka, he has the rope and we are back in business... Bless him,, he got all excited with the manta ray and forgot to hold on to the rope..
I decide I am going to have a go at fishing, just a little go.... 5 minutes and I have caught my first fish. "Hold it" says John let me take a picture.... So I hold it (well sort of), he takes the piccie. I suggest you just see the piccies as I have nothing more to add......UCK!!!!!!
Desma invites us out to lunch at the Dome restaurant, which is right on the sea front and apparently very well known and respected. So we meet her there as agreed. Lunch was lovely, the views were lovely and the coffee delish.....what a great way to spend our last few days here. Desma is so nice, I can't help keep giving her a hug. I hope I am like her at 80 years old, she is brilliant and has a cracking sense of humour.
She has renamed Kostyas "grub' and lets him know it lol......
Its also Dots birthday today "Happy birthday Dottie, Love you bucket loads xx" So I am keen to be home by 5pm so that we can call and sing Happy birthday to her, (which we do)....She is laughing and very pleased that all the girls have been in touch and she is having a lovely day.
Well the days have nearly run out and the new sitters are due to arrive. Their names are Peter and Ann and they will come Friday nite and take over Saturday. So we cook them an evening meal and invite Desma. All goes really well. We explain whats happened and are laughing as their faces change from shock to laughs to horror at all the shanningans ...... Good thing is its all sorted now, so they should have an easy time(fingers crossed).
Saturday morning comes , we are all packed and ready to go 'ish' . WE do the usual early morning beach walk and take Ann and Peter with us and do you now what????, some B'stard has nicked the three chairs from the beach.... Hey ho !!!!!.
'Well' John says, 'I told you, we haven't got enough room for all 'y'our stuff'', Ann and Peter jump straight in and offer to follow us to the next house and bring the rest. Brilliant, they are really nice and we will properly keep in touch with them.
Ben, the Grundy's son in law pops in to see the handover, Desma pops up and has made fresh scones, jam and cream for us all... yum yum !!!!
All is well, Handover done, good byes and thankyou's said and we are off to start the next part of our adventure.
We are now on our way to Waikiki, which is about 40 minutes further up the coast.
We arrive at the new house, I jump off the bike and the next door neighbour comes out. She comes over and gives John a kiss and me a big hug,,,"Hello I'm Edith, Wine and food at 4pm, she says.. you and John are invited, don't be late, Margaret and Kevin (other neighbours) are also coming....see you later""
"Wow", say Ann and Peter, how good is that?, we think we will follow you round OZ, you seem to have such a good time. So bike unloaded, Peter and Ann's car emptied of our stuff (lol) and they head back to Dawesville....and we head inside to sort ourselves out.
We settle ourselves in, make mates with the animals, so you will now get to know 'Dozer"( a puppy staff) and Tori (a red heeler) and 3 chooks ( chickens to you!!!!, mite just call them Kouy, Roxanne and Billee-Jean...hahahaha.... 4 large rabbits and a wormery ( they eat your left over veggies!!!) before long we've unpacked, had a cup of tea. Then we hear calling from the front door, Its Edith (the lady who has invited us round). " are you coming, ? the others are here, so come on, food is on the table with lots of wine."
"ok " we advise "just coming".
PS; They are happy chickens Billee, and they lay happy eggs !!!! ( private joke, Billee-jean will understand), which they give to us.... 3 a day ....yum yum..
Long story... short......, lots of wine, cooked chicken, sausages, laughs, stories, some rich conversation styles(i.e.; Ozzie words etc etc) and a good nite was had by all. We head back indoors about 7pm, watch some TV and off to bed we go.....
