31st Oct, Taking over, Yeppoon....

Well, its a fine day for a move, suns shining and not a cloud in the sky. We're moving into a house sit today and don't really want to get there to early. We may be looking after their house, but its a bit akward spending a day with someone you don't know. We have breakfast, wrap the tent up and have showers. OK, that takes us till ten thirty, right, check out their address on the net. Even driving slow, we could be there in less then thirty minuets, but the site we're on has been booked, so we really have to make a move. We drive down to Keppel Beach shopping centre, bout fifteen minutes down the road, check out the shops (all ten of um) and decide to kill a bit of time with something to eat. Fish and chips at eleven thirty in the morning is not exactly my ideal, but I've got to say, it was the best bit of fish I've ever tasted, Red Emperor Snapper, Lin had the mackerel and that was just as good. Yer never know what yer gonna get when you walk into a chippy out here. I recon its whatever the owner caught the night before. Still, if the fish is that good, works for me..... Right, we've eaten the fish and drunk enough coffee to get it swimming again, Its still a bit early, but looks like we gotta go. On the way we spot an information office, That's a bit of luck, so we stop off and check out whats in the area. (markets sightseeing etc,).

OK, running out of excuses to delay getting there, so out comes the street map an off we go, ten minuets later, we're knocking on the door. Door opens and there stands Diane with a ball of fluff at her feet who's name turns out to be Sophie. We get a warm welcome from Ron , Diane and the ball of fluff and are soon getting the guided tour, nice place this.... its a "Queenslander", in other words, up on stilts and no, you don't need a ladder. The rooms are a good size, with two bedrooms living and dining rooms, office, kitchen and bathroom, all spotless. I check out the shed's (as yer do) and it looks like the bikes gonna get looked after. I've been told the lawn wont need mowing this time of year and theres no odd jobs need doing, looking round, I can believe it. This is gonna be such an easy sit. We sit and talk, getting to know each other, time passes by. Its six o'clock and Ron should have been at work at Five thirty, cor he was up and out the door so quick, I thought his ar*e was alight. Never mind, the three of us order a pizza and have supper while he's at work, (nice one Ron). Eight o'clock and he's back, job done and ready for his holiday. Come ten, Lin and me cant keep our eyes open, so its off to bed, Tomorrow, the house is ours.

This Magpie was a PIA and constantly looked for food, he was daring and not past nicking food off you to..... some areas have problems with swooping magpies... it did not help that John wanted to feed every bird he came across... I say no more !!!!

All packed and ready to move on...
