OK, fair do's, I went fishing yesterday, Lin wants to go and check out Rockingham, or Rocky as the locals call it. When I say locals, I mean everyone, even on TV, the local weather forecast refers to it as Rocky. It seems to be an Ozzie thing to shorten names, at least its one thing the Brits don't do, I haven't heard anyone refer to Dagenham as Daggy, or to Blackpool as Blackly, good thing to when it comes to Cockfosters....... Anyway, off to Rocky we go.
Funny ain't it, Lin's navigating skills seemed to have picked up. We go from the front door, to one of the largest shopping centres I've seen out here, without taking one wrong turn, (how does she do that?) I can feel me mind going numb just looking at it. Car parked and in we trot. We look at shoes, we look at dresses, we check out baby cloths, (duh?) we even look over the kitchen utensils, I'm being punished, I know I'm being punished, just tell me what I did wrong and I'll put it right, I promise. When will women learn?..... theres no point looking at shoes unless you need a pair, if you ain't got a baby, theres no point checking out the clothes, the bike can only carry so many kitchen utensils and only a perve ends up in the knicker department unless its Christmas or there's someone in em.
I offer to sit here with me book and a coffee and let Lin go off and enjoy herself. Nope, "its more fun if we do it together", she hates me! and off we go again. Lin nips into a dress shop, I wait outside and check out the price of chicken schnitzel, after all, you never know when you need to know the price of a schnit!. I can feel the fog closing in and me brain closing down and hope enough survives to still be able to work the car, I know if I start to dribble, theres no hope. The rest of the day becomes a bit of a haze, I vaguely remember being helped to the car and being put to bed, but that's it.
