22nd Oct, here, there and every bloody where. Mission Beach to townsville

We'll what a good day for a bike ride. The sun keeps popping in and out between the clouds and its still nice and warm, (about twenty six degrees and it still only 7.30). OK, time to wrap up the tent and get things put away. We're in the tropic's, so the humidity is high, forty minuets of packing up and I haven't seen Lin sweat like that since we first got together. (Oh boy, those were the days)...... If sweating was an Olympic event, we would be in with a good chance of a gold. By the time we're finished, we're both soggy and dripping, even after showers, we can't get dry. We say our goodbyes and get the show back on the road.

Its really good to get going, theres no breeze at all when we ain't moving and it feels like we're being steamed. Even on these roads, we're making good time and its not long before we hit Cardwell. Time for a coffee so we head for the bakers we visited last time in the hope the diddy lady's  still there. If she is, I'm gonna nip out and get meself one of them blow up hammers, give her a long list of stuff and as she pops up and down, have a go at the worlds largest whack-a-mole game. What a bummer!, she's not there and it hard to hide the disappointment, never mind, the coffee's still good and the chicken pie is in a league of its own and beats whack-a-mole any day. Us and the bike filled, we're on our way again, next stop Oasis caravan park, just south of Townsville. We've been here a while now, but still cant help being gobsmacked with the landscape, dodge a few potholes, look up from the road, and wow!, gets yer every time. We travel on down Highway one and just outside Townsville, we come to a fork in the road, Highway one right, city left. I say Highway one, Lin says turn left, she's the navigator, so left it is. Its not long before we're surrounded by tall buildings and are hopelessly lost. In the end, we park the bike and walk. How bout that, an Information centre, so we pop in and ask. The young girl tells us we want Highway one, gives us a map and tells us its easy. "across the bridge, turn right, straight on, easy". We get outside and decide to double check on the map. Now nether of us has got our glasses and we ain't got a good eye between us, so Lin decides to ask someone. No problem, across the bridge, turn right, and straight on.

We get back to the bike, Lin still ain't happy, "just gonna nip in this shop and ask someone", Easy, across the bridge, turn right and straight on. We get on the bike and my navigator tells me to 'go across the bridge, once over the bridge' she then tells me to 'turn right, now carry straight on' and guess what? she was right, bloody good navigator that girl of mine. Seventeen k down Highway one and we're turning into what will be our home for the next two nights....

Ok, pack, pack and pack some more.....
