23rd Oct, Lost and found, Bush Oasis caravan park, Townsville

Well, last night was a bit different. It started with the Dingo's in the zoo next door, howling at the moon. OK we can get over that, then we get the traffic noise from the main road, (well the flats on the High road), so its not to bigger a deal...... It seems with all the usual too-ing and frow-ing, putting the tent up, we somehow managed to set up on a slope. Bloody great!!!! I had to spend the night with me elbow sticking out just to stop meself rolling out of bed and under the table. Lin was doing the same to stop herself rolling on top of me. (I keeped knocking her elbow away, but she's to quick.....). I'm just dosing off when a train on the other side of the camp rolls past and Lin's counting the carriages, oh great, a hundred. Only one more night and we're gone....

You can always tell when its time to get up out here, its too sodding hot to lie in any longer. So this morning we're up about six thirty. Coffee, toast and showers and we're ready for whatever the day has to offer and today we're off to the zoo opposite the camp. Nine o'clock and we're outside the doors just as they open. Thirty bucks each and we're in. Lin argues for a discount, but the rather large woman!!!, ain't having none and Lin ain't happy, Still, the woman is used to dealing with croc's (and it showed) so fair play to Lin, she did well and came away with all appendages. Now as zoo's go, this one was....... how can I put this?, Oh yea, 'Crap'. Loads of croc's, loads of Koalas and very little else. Two nice things in its favour,. The roo's are friendly and roam free. Turns out their a little like dogs and like to be scratched behind the ears, on the chest and above the tail, (just thought I'd mention that, just in case you need to pacify a wild roo....) . The other thing I liked was the two parrots which were also free to roam. The cockatoo seemed friendly and when I put me hand up to stroke it, it leaped on me hand, run down me arm and I was sure it was heading for me throat, but a finger in its eye made sure it never got there so all ended well. The black bugger was a bit more honest and was trying to take lumps out of anything that came near. I tryed to entice it over to the crocodile's enclosure, but it wasn't having none, Smart fu*king bird. I thought I had a result when we found the Dingo enclosure. Time for payback and started picking up a few nice sized rocks. It was a bit of a bummer when Lin took um off me, I recon I could have got the big sandy one on the arse with the half brick. Anyway, it only took an hour an a half and we're all done.

Back to the camp to pick up the bike cos Lin wants to go into town to sort out the broadband. (Oh sh*t). We're off, which way? "I dunno". So we drive round for a bit till we find where we were lost yesterday. Right, off the bike and we walk round for a bit, Lin popping in and out of shops to "moousie" (Na, I don't know what it means either) and to ask for directions, back to the bike and we're off again, in the direction of a shopping centre. (yea, we seemed to find that easy enough). So we get the broadband sorted and three hours later (zoo, hour an half. Shopping centre, three hours???) we're finally heading back. "which way?", "I dunno". Here we go again. We drive about a bit till we spot a sign for Ayr, which is on Highway one,. That'll do and we're off. It don't take to long before we're back and since its still early, I'm gonna wash the bike and Lin'll wash the trailer. We make a start, Lin needs to pop to the loo and that's the last I saw of her till I'm done. Now I know where Billee gets it......
