6th Oct Nebo to Airlie beach and a million kids

Well, we payed for breakfast, so we're sodding well gonna have it. No rush this morning, only got a couple of hundred K's and we're there. So off to the dinning hall for the full works, egg, bacon, sausage, (not so good) scrambled, toast and even had a go at the porridge and grabbed a bit of fruit on the way out.

Right, bike packed and  back to the slow plod. I've never known two hundred k to take so long and after three and a half hours we finally arrive.

A first glance, all seems well, we pick our spot and part with the readdys. As soon as we start to put up the tent, the kids seem to come out the woodwork, seems like hundreds of the little bleeders, all whizzing round on scooters, skateboards and trikes, there must be at least 8/9 family's with four kids each and as soon as no ones watching, I think I'm gonna kill a couple, I just keep telling meself, just got to wait till Tuesday and their back to school........  Fingers crossed, I can hold out that long.
Not gonna write no more at the moment, off to kick a tree.

We stop off at Mackay on the way through for a welcome coffee break..Nice town, with a summer fete going on, so it was well worth the stop and I got myself a nice new summer hat...

John finds a large axe head and promptly parks himself!

A view across the river at Mackay

A lot of the town was very 1940 in style...

And then we arrive......

Not only full of kids, but also full of flippin ducks of all shapes and sizes too lol and to be precise they are called "the plummed whistling ducks"

The man and his tan .....nice shirt John ...is that a new one ??? lol
