24th Oct, ducking and diving to Seaforth and on to Cape Hillsbrough

Same old story. Road trip!!

Well its time to leave the High road traffic, the howling dingos and the train line behind and set off once more. We've taken a look at the map and decided we're heading for Seaforth, Just above Mackay today, looks nice, so off we go. Just another boring trip for you, cos you cant see the scenery. The pictures help, but just cant do the countryside justice. The roads! well, that's another matter. The worst in the country. I've got a theory..... it a safety measure. Now everywhere else in the place has good roads, open, straight and empty. If the road speed says one hundred and ten kph, in one hour you will travel one hundred and ten kilometres. Simple..... Here in Queensland, if the road speed says one hundred and ten kph, it takes an hour and half. First, they place potholes all over the place, that slows yer down to ninety five, then they allow you to travel four or five kilometres before yer come up against road works with a stop/go board. No one can pick up any speed cos the potholes, the stopping and starting keeps you alert, hence the safety measure. It may work, but its a bit of a bitch when yer sitting on a motorbike in the blazing sun, got a sore ar*e and would bite someones face off for a cold drink.

I've managed to get the bike up to a hundred and concentrating on making nice figure of eight patterns between the potholes, when I look up, just in time to see the sign for Seaforth flash past on the left. "Oi!! what the fuc*ing hell happened there, we missed the turning?", I shout back to the navigator. "you didn't tell me you wanted to go to Seaforth" comes back the answer. Duh?????, OK, carry on, we'll end up somewhere. Ten K's further on we come to another sign for Seaforth with a garage opposite, so I pull into the garage. Lin's got the hump cos I shouted at her and promptly tears me off a strip, so now I've got the hump cos Lin's just had a go. Through gritted teeth, we agree to head into Seaforth, so off we go again. We get to the council camp site and its very basic and not making matters any easier. Lin has a chat to couple of workers and we're off again to a camp site on national park land. At last, alls OK. Full amenities with a beach front pitch. That'll do us, and its not long before the tents up and the coffee's on ...

Off we go through the ever changing countryside that is Australia....and at the moment we are in the State of Queensland (QLD).. no comments just enjoy...

At last we arrive....and the site looks good.. so we take a punt and decide to do un-powered...

All set up, this is home for 3-4 nights..
